Introduction

Welcome to the « CPR/AED – ISS Level (6h) » training, recognized by health professional orders. This six-hour session is specially designed to meet the requirements of health professionals working in a federal role, offering advanced training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

By taking this training, you strengthen your ability to save lives and you meet the continuing education criteria required by your professional order, thereby contributing to your ongoing professional development.

Certification upon completion of the training

At the end of this intensive session, you will obtain annual credit hours as well as a « CPR/AED – ISS Level (6h) » certification, valid for a set period. This certification demonstrates your competence in effectively responding to cardiopulmonary emergencies.

Course objective

The main objective is to provide health professionals with the advanced skills needed to respond expertly to emergency situations, with a focus on cardiopulmonary arrest (CPA) and associated medical emergencies. Specific objectives include:

  • Mastery of CPR and AED techniques adapted to the health professional context: interventions for cardiopulmonary arrest and airway obstruction in adults, children, and infants, including advanced resuscitation practice, use of the AED, and bag-valve-mask.
  • Specific management of respiratory emergencies in a medical context: choking and other respiratory emergencies in patients of all age groups.
  • Management of basic oxygen therapy as well as management of severe hemorrhage — mandatory elements for this federal-standard training.

Instruction, assessments and practice

4.1 Theoretical instruction

Theoretical instruction is designed to provide a solid, detailed understanding of the essential principles and practices of first aid.

Completing required readings: it is essential to complete all provided readings before progressing through the program. After finishing each reading section, you must click the « COMPLETED » button. This action is mandatory and confirms that you have absorbed the content presented.

Interactive medical glossary: throughout the training, you will encounter highlighted medical terms. Hovering over these terms will display an information bubble with a short definition. A link will take you to our online medical glossary for a detailed description.

"Explanations" sections — Optional but recommended

The "Explanations" sections offer additional details and enriching context. Their content is not assessed, but they can significantly improve your ability to apply the skills in real situations.

4.2 Theoretical assessments

Assessment format: at the end of each reading module, a multiple-choice quiz will be given to test your understanding. Each quiz must be completed within 60 minutes.

Passing criteria: to move on to the next module, you must obtain a score of at least 80%. If you do not achieve this score, you will have the opportunity to retake the test up to 10 times. A "Need a hint?" button is available to help you.

Intervention in case of repeated failures

If you do not pass the test after 10 attempts, a direct intervention with an SNCPR instructor will be necessary to identify and address the specific difficulties encountered.

4.3 Practical sessions

Preparing for the practical session: before each practical session, you will be guided in building a CPR mannequin using everyday objects. This innovative method allows you to practice resuscitation maneuvers in an accessible, safe, and controlled environment.

Process: during the practical session, you must play an animated video specially designed to guide participants through the various steps of the CPR maneuvers. Our automated system tracks the time spent on each session. Progress in the course is blocked until the session is fully completed.

Technology support: the SNCPR mobile app is a valuable resource available to all participants, usable both during learning sessions and in real situations, offering step-by-step guides and procedure reminders.

5 — Deadline management

From the date you purchase your training, you have 10 weeks to complete the entire program. This timeframe is designed to allow sufficient flexibility while encouraging steady progress.

If no activity is recorded on your account for more than 10 weeks, your file will be temporarily suspended. To reactivate it, you will need to contact SNCPR at [email protected]. Our support team is available to assist you through this process.

Tip

Plan regular study sessions and use the resources provided to optimize your learning time. This not only makes it easier to complete the training on time, but also helps you more effectively retain the knowledge and skills taught.

7 — SNCPR evaluation

Summative evaluations during training: strictly confidential summative evaluations allow SNCPR to quickly detect any need for adjustment or improvement in the teaching format.

Overall evaluation at the end of training: at the conclusion of the training, a confidential overall evaluation gathers participants' impressions and feedback regarding the structure, content, teaching method, and overall effectiveness of the course.

Certification

Upon completion of your training, once you have passed all required assessments, an official certificate will be issued to you in electronic format, immediately available for download, emailing, or printing.
